Mobile Battery Fitting

Mobile Battery Fitting in Winchester

Winchester raises a practical question before the technical one: can a working van stand where your car is? Near the centre many streets are restricted or pedestrianised, and most people use the park-and-ride sites on the edge of the city. We agree a space with you before we travel. Once we are set up, the work is straightforward: supply the correct battery from your registration, fit it, test the charging system, and recycle the old one.

HOW WE WORK

How we fit a battery

  1. 01

    Identify the type

Stop-start and AGM batteries are not interchangeable, so we confirm the specification from your registration first.

  2. 02

    Agree the price

You know the cost of the battery and the fitting before anything is touched.

  3. 03

    Fit on site

We fit the battery wherever the vehicle is — drive, workplace or car park.

  4. 04

    Test and recycle

We check the charging system and take the old battery away for recycling.

THE SITUATION

A flat battery a short walk from the centre

The driver was up near the cathedral, which is the part of Winchester where we cannot work, so the first thing we did was agree a park-and-ride site on the edge and tell him the price would not change. He walked, which was the right call, and a park and ride is not a compromise that costs extra. The battery was a straightforward replacement on an older car and the charging system read healthy. The interesting part was what the driver had been doing: the car was used almost entirely for short town journeys, and that is the most common cause of a battery that keeps failing rather than simply ageing. We fitted the battery and explained that a fifteen minute drive once a week would do more for its life than anything we could do at the roadside. It is advice people rarely get, and it saves them the next call.

QUESTIONS

Questions about battery in Winchester

How do I know which battery my car in Winchester needs?

You do not need to work it out. Send your registration and we confirm the correct battery from the vehicle data before we set off.

Will you fit a stop-start or AGM battery?

Yes, provided it is the correct type for the vehicle. These are not interchangeable with conventional batteries, which is why we check the specification from your registration first.

What happens to my old battery?

We take it away for recycling as part of the job. You do not need to arrange anything for it yourself.

LOCAL ADVICE

Practical advice for Winchester

  • If your car only ever does short journeys, a battery that keeps going flat is usually the symptom rather than the cause. A longer drive once a week makes a real difference.
  • If you are up near the centre, the park-and-ride is usually easier for us to work at and costs the same. Say where you actually are.
  • If you are up by the centre, the park-and-ride is usually easier for us to work at and costs the same. Say where you are rather than where you were heading.
