THE SITUATION

A puncture on a market day, again

Third time this month we have been called to Ringwood on a market day, and the pattern is worth naming: the car parks fill, drivers take whatever bay is left, and the bays at the edges are where the job ends up being possible. The puncture was in the shoulder of the tread, repairable, and we repaired it rather than selling a tyre the driver did not need. The driver had walked to the edge of the car park on our advice, which is now the first thing we ask about here. We checked the other three and found one down to the wear bars, which was the actual failure waiting to happen. That is the second call in a fortnight this would have been. Fixing it while we were already at the vehicle cost nothing extra and avoided a call on a day the driver could least afford it.
