Locking Wheel Nut Removal

Locking Wheel Nut Removal in Ringwood

Ringwood fills up on market days and weekends, and that changes what is possible. By the time a driver notices a nut will not release, the town-centre car parks are already at their tightest, and a van working from a bay meant for a short shop is asking for trouble. We agree a space with you before we set off. If you are on an estate or an edge-of-town road that is often easier, and it is worth telling us where you can actually leave it.

HOW WE WORK

How we remove a locking wheel nut

  1. 01

    Look at the nut

A photo of the nut head tells us whether it is intact, rounded or already broken, which decides the tool we bring.

  2. 02

    Agree the price

You get the price for the job before we travel, not afterwards.

  3. 03

    Travel to you

We come to your home, workplace or the parking space where the car is standing.

  4. 04

    Refit and torque

The wheel goes back on with the proper torque, not just tight enough to reach the road.

THE SITUATION

Lost in the market car park

Market day, which is the single fact that shaped this call. The car park was full enough that the bay the driver was in could not be worked in without blocking an aisle, so we agreed the far corner before setting off rather than arriving to negotiate it. By the time we got there the space had been given over to traders setting up, so we moved to the edge where there was room, and that is where the work happened. The alloy had been replaced within the last month and the nuts were barely marked, which told us it had been torqued with an impact gun and left to settle. We refitted and set the torque properly, and told the driver why that gun is not the right tool for a locking wheel. Not a difficult job, but impossible in the aisle he was standing in.

QUESTIONS

Questions about locking wheel nut in Ringwood

Do all wheels have a locking nut, or just one?

Usually only one per vehicle, though some have two. Either way we can deal with it — tell us how many you think are locked when you get in touch.

I have no key and the car is in Ringwood — what do I send you?

A photo of the nut head, your registration, and roughly where the car is parked. That is usually enough for us to confirm the job and give you a price.

Can you supply a replacement locking key?

No — we do not manufacture keys. We remove the nut instead, which gets you moving without replacing the whole locking set.

LOCAL ADVICE

Practical advice for Ringwood

  • On a market day, expect to be walked to the edge of the car park. It is worth doing rather than negotiating with a trader holding a box of apples.
  • If your wheels were fitted recently and have started loosening, mention it. It is usually an impact gun left on high, and it is worth having checked.
  • On a market day, get to the edge of the car park before you call. If the alloy is in a busy aisle we may need you to move it, and that is a conversation we can have on the phone instead of at the car.
